Haptic sound exploration with servo motors

Each servo motor that connects to Arduino has its unique sound. The project stems from the question of: ‘Can several servo motors be turned into an instrument by having different speeds? What if a breadboard acts like a keyboard ?’







ARDUINO + SERVO MOTORS













In the first coding, servo motors were in a loop with different delays and angles connected to the Arduino






In the second coding, servo motors were controlled by buttons on the breadboard



USER TESTING













I made several user testings where the main idea was let people explore to see how different sounds can be united





FORMS








Different servo motor sounds are physically formed by their own sound characters





INSIGHTS
In this short project, I discovered the potential combination of the authentic sounds of servo motors and Arduino, whereas different angles and delays_p5.js affect the sound of motors. Turning the breadboard into a keyboard added an auditory feature into a non-auditory element and created a curiosity for further development.
